Attorneyship Ideology in Turkey

The article resolves the "Ideological World" from a historical context, where the lawyers in Turkey conduct their professional activities. Article focuses on the connection and relation with the lack of attorneyship in the Ottoman Empire, including the Tanzimat reform era and the lack of right of defence in Islamic law. The emphasis is also made to the developments and changes in legal profession during establishment of Republic of Turkey and the creation of the nation-state. The similarities between the "Golden Age" of legal profession in Europe in the 19th century and its developments in Turkey have been examined, and attention has been drawn to the troubles in attorney-state relations. In addition, the attention is being drawn to the negative aspects of the “wolf trap” surrounding the Turkish lawyers in the market economy, and the dangerous impacts of this to the future of the justice are being underlined. The article also tries to put forward the transformation in the classical qualities of the legal profession caused by the market economy.
